“The Chinese Communist Party, the CCP, is posing the central threat of our times,” reads the U.S. State Department website.

From buying 90% of Iran’s oil in defiance of international sanctions to producing 97% of the world's fentanyl supply, which kills 100,000 Americans a year, and as the origin of the COVID-19 virus, China has emerged as a superpower that threatens the Western world order, the U.S. and its allies in the Indo-Pacific and Middle East, including Israel.

But what does the Bible say about China?

ALL ISRAEL NEWS Editor-in-Chief Joel Rosenberg has recently been asked this question repeatedly following the release of his new book, "The Beijing Betrayal," which hit bookstores earlier this month.

“I want to take you tonight into the scriptures and show you some very interesting passages that you may not be familiar with that has real bearing on this topic,” Rosenberg told the viewers of his weekly program on TBN, while mentioning that the word ‘China’ itself does not appear in the Bible.

In the latest episode of THE ROSENBERG REPORT, he played a sermon he gave at the Cornerstone Chapel in northern Virginia, where he was asked by the pastor – 'What is the future of China?'

Rosenberg opened the sermon by quoting Revelation 16:12-15: “Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared.

And I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs;

For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his garments, lest he walk about naked and men see his shame.”

Rosenberg said he believes that this biblical prophecy is a reference to China, as one of the ‘Kings of the East’ or maybe even their leader. According to his interpretation, China will mobilize all the kings – meaning, all the armies of the world – to come to the mountain of Megiddo in Israel at the 'End Times.'

He noted that the word ‘Armageddon’ is derived from the name of the mountain. “I believe that China will be a leader of that, and the reason I say that is because we're already deep into the last days. Israel's already been reborn as a country prophetically,” Rosenberg explained.

He added that as an enormous country with the largest army in the world, as well as nuclear weapons, China is a “prototype of the tyrannical Antichrist society.”

At the same time, despite its communist, anti-religion stance, many Chinese people appear to be coming to faith in Jesus.

Rosenberg referred to a Boston University study from 2023, which found that over the past four decades, Christianity has grown faster in China than anywhere else in the world.

"Darrell Ireland, a Boston University missions professor in the School of Theology, estimates that the Christian community in China has grown from 1 million about four decades ago to 100 million. I think it's the greatest spiritual awakening on the planet, happening in an Antichrist, tyrannical country. This is encouraging,” said Rosenberg.

As for why this is happening, Rosenberg argued that there is a “prophetic reason” behind the trend. In that context, he quoted verses from the Book of Isaiah, making the case that the Hebrew prophet predicted a great harvest of Chinese people into Christ’s Kingdom.

“Listen, O coastlands, to Me, And take heed, you peoples from afar! The LORD has called Me from the womb; From the matrix of My mother He has made mention of My name.” (Isaiah 49:1)

“He says: “It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to bring back the preserved of Israel; I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth” (Isaiah 49:6).

“Behold, these will come from afar; And lo, these will come from the north and from the west, And these from the land of Sinim” (Isaiah 49:12).

Rosenberg further explained that the word ‘Sinim’ in Hebrew is the plural form referring to Chinese people.

His reading of this prophecy suggests that at the end of the tribulation – just on or around the moment of Armageddon – the Holy Spirit will be poured out so powerfully that every single Jew that has made it through the tribulation will be saved.

But God is saying that it's too small a thing to just save Israel and that His salvation may reach the ends of the earth. Rosenberg noted that one end is America, and the other is China.

“The only actual reference in the Bible to China, prophetically, is positive. It's about them coming to know the Lord in large numbers. And that's exactly what we're seeing,” he said.

Rosenberg urged Evangelicals to pray that the Lord grants great courage to the persecuted Church in China and to intercede for the hundreds of millions of Chinese who have yet to know Jesus.

“Pray that they will renounce communism, that they will abandon atheism and they will come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through faith, through repentance,” he concluded.
