US appears to draw equivalence between Tel Aviv terror and killing of Palestinian in West Bank
The U.S. State Department referred to Saturday's terror attack in Tel Aviv and Friday's incident in which a Palestinian was killed in the West Bank, as "terror attacks" in statements released on Sunday, just minutes from one another.
The State Department first condemned the "terrorist attack in Tel Aviv," during which security guard Chen Amir was murdered.
Just minutes later, the State Department published a second statement about the incident on Friday, when a Palestinian man was shot and killed during a violent confrontation with Jewish settlers near the West Bank village of Burqa.
The investigation into Friday's incident in Burqa is still ongoing.
The two settlers were arrested on suspicion of killing the Palestinian, however right-wing politicians claim they acted in self-defense.
“We strongly condemn yesterday’s terror attack by Israeli extremist settlers that killed a 19-year-old Palestinian. The US extends our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones. We note Israeli officials have made several arrests and we urge full accountability and justice,” read the second statement.
