Israel sends fire fighting relief mission to Cyprus
Israel sent an aid mission to Cyprus on Monday to help extinguish huge wildfires near the island nation's capital of Limassol, following a request from Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides.
The mission includes two 'Air-Tractor' firefighting aircraft, a crew of four pilots, a trained ground crew, wildfire experts and equipment, which includes approximately six tons of flame retardants.
Operation "Wings of Fire" is a joint initiative of Israel's National Security Ministry, the Israel Police Air Division, the Israel Fire and Rescue Authority, and the Israel Defense Forces, which will transport the crews and equipment.
