IDF air defense system intercepts multiple projectiles near Eilat
The Israeli army’s air defense system intercepted at least two projectiles aimed at the southern city of Eilat in two separate incidents on Thursday evening after a drone exploded in a school in the city earlier in the day.
Rocket sirens were activated during the first incident. The IDF stated that the Arrow missile system was used to intercept a surface-to-surface missile.
About two and a half hours later another suspicious target was intercepted by an Israeli Patriot missile. The target was shot down near the Arava region north of Eilat, without crossing into Israeli territory, therefore no alarm sirens were activated.
Earlier in the evening, a spokesman for the Houthi rebels in Yemen claimed they had fired a barrage of ballistic missiles at various targets in southern Israel.
