WATCH: Biden's popularity plummets in US based on handling of Israel-Hamas war
Joel Rosenberg explains how Biden's perceived weakness on the world stage is playing out badly on multiple fronts
As he heads toward 2024 in his bid for re-election, U.S. President Joe Biden’s popularity has taken a nosedive among voters…impacted by disapproval of his administration’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war.
In a just-released poll conducted by NBC News, Biden’s approval rating has declined to the lowest level since he assumed the presidency – 40%. And powering that disapproval is negative voter reaction to Biden’s foreign policy and the Israel-Hamas war.
Joel Rosenberg, co-founder and editor-in-chief of ALL ISRAEL NEWS and an astute observer of American politics as it relates to Israel, said that although the U.S. presidential election is still a full year away, these are not the kind of “optics” any politician wants to see as he or she prepares to face the voters.
Rosenberg said the erosion of Biden’s overall poll numbers is likely coming from his poor handling of the war in Ukraine, the collapse of Afghanistan following Biden’s hastily directed withdrawal of American troops, and now the ramping-up of military intervention with Israel by Iran’s proxy’s in Lebanon and elsewhere.
The perceived weakness of Biden on the world stage is playing out badly on multiple fronts, Rosenberg added.
The NBC News poll also pinpoints the erosion of support from members of Biden's own Democratic Party…especially younger voters: Those polled in the 18-34 age category reject Biden’s foreign policy by a huge 70%.
Meantime, that same NBC News poll finds former U.S. President Donald J. Trump – the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party – pulling ahead of the 81-year-old Biden for the first time in a hypothetical matchup for the November 2024 election.
Coupled with a new 28-point lead over his closest rival in the first-in-the-nation primary in New Hampshire, this is shaping up to be more good news for Trump heading into the 2024 caucuses and primaries.
