Hamas to Muslim neighbors: ‘I call on countries close to the borders…join us’
Calls echo previous statement claiming ‘there will be no more Jews or Christian traitors’
Khaled Meshaal, former head of the Hamas political bureau and current head of the terror organization's foreign activities, called on Muslim countries, particularly Jordan, to join the war against Israel.
“I call on countries close to the borders, Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon to join us,” Meshaal urged.
Meshaal, who lives in Qatar, stated the governments of Jordan, Egypt, Syria, and Lebanon have a duty to support the Palestinians.
“We, Palestinians defend Jordan and Al-Aqsa. We defend the Islamic nation out of our duty and pride. Sons of Jordan, this is the hour of truth. This is the hour when we fight.”
Meshaal’s call for Jihad (holy war) echoes similar Hamas propaganda that aims to present the terror group as the “defenders of al-Aqsa”.
“We call on all those who called for jihad in the way of Allah to join because this is the hour of testing. This is the day and the moment we talked about all the time: The Zionists played with fire when they hit the Al-Aqsa Mosque. And I call on everyone at this time to take responsibility and do everything in their power for this war."
The Hamas leader claimed it is a religious obligation for Muslims to join the fight against Israel.
“Allah asks everyone – the leaders of the Islamic nation, the kings, presidents, and leaders, asks the heads of the Islamic resistance organizations – ‘Where are you and why are you not alongside those who guard the holy land of Palestine?’ Where are the religious leaders who advertised that every Muslim must defend Palestine with his life? Why are we waiting for the Al-Aqsa Mosque to be demolished and the Temple built in its place?”
A previously released video from 2022 of senior Hamas official Mahmoud al-Zahar calling for the “liberation” of the “512 million square kilometers of planet Earth” was shared by several news sites this week.
“The entire 512 million square kilometers of planet Earth will come under [a system] where there is no injustice, no oppression, no treachery, no Zionism, no treacherous Christianity,” al-Zahar states in the video.
On Tuesday, the organization called for mass protests around the world on Friday in order to mobilize support for Hamas on a Telegram channel.
“This is an appeal to our Palestinian people and the masses of the Arab and Islamic world and people of the free world,” the Hamas leaders wrote on Telegram.
“We are announcing the general mobilization on Friday in order to support Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa and the struggling Gaza.”
