Israeli murdered in West Bank terror attack; IDF forces shoot, kill assailant
A Palestinian terrorist murdered an Israeli civilian in the West Bank on Thursday afternoon.
Following unsuccessful efforts to save the Israeli man, rescue services declared the victim deceased at the scene of the attack, adjacent to the Jewish community of Kedumim.
Israeli security forces later tracked down the terrorist, who opened fire at security forces when his car was stopped for an inspection. He was shot and killed.
The latest terror attack comes merely one day after the Israel Defense Forces completed a large-scale counter-terrorism operation, eliminating at least 10 terrorists in the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank.
Kedumim is located 10 kilometers (about 6 miles) from Jenin, which has emerged as an epicenter of terrorism, alongside the city of Nablus. Both areas are characterized by growing lawlessness, waning Palestinian Authority control and an increase in Iranian financing of terrorism.
Earlier this week, a West Bank terrorist wounded at least eight Israeli civilians in a car-ramming attack in Tel Aviv. The terrorist also managed to stab one Israeli woman before an Israeli civilian neutralized him.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Operation Home and Garden, vowing to continue the fight against terrorism.
"Whoever thinks such an attack will deter us from continuing to fight against terrorism is mistaken," stated Netanyahu about the latest terror attack in Tel Aviv.
