Jihadists disguised as friends

It’s said that peace is made with your enemies and not your friends. But what if those enemies package themselves as potential friends, in an effort to align, just long enough to lull them into a false sense of mutual cooperation?
In many ways, that is how it feels with Qatar – a nation which has notably harbored Hamas terrorists who sought a safe refuge from those who would like to capture or kill them. Also well-known for sponsoring antisemitic activities, which are rife in so many U.S. campuses, they share the responsibility for the persecution of Jewish students and staff who no longer feel safe at these universities or can count on being protected by an administration receiving enormous sums of money from their coffers.
So, how does the world’s superpower put aside everything it knows about an enemy nation whose finances and energies are being indirectly expended on jihadists, whose goal is to overtake nations in a way that is so gradual and deceptive that they won’t even notice until it’s too late?
Unlike Iran, whose mullahs have made no secret of their objectives toward Israel and the U.S., Qatar seems to have figured out that being more subtle in their approach will help to facilitate their end game of defeating Western society. If you can’t beat them, join them.
By rolling out the red carpet and pulling out all the stops to impress the most powerful man in the free world, U.S. President Donald J. Trump, Qataris left no stone unturned to woo him in the same way that a perspective lover would win over his fair maiden. It was a spectacle for the ages, showcasing the most impressive and finest display of their culture and unspeakable wealth. Who wouldn’t be wowed by such an array of opulence, the likes of which few will ever witness in their lifetime?
But what is the cost that is required to gaze into that world where even a peak is beyond our wildest imagination or reach? And that is the crux of the matter, because this lavish banquet is definitely no one’s free lunch!
In an article entitled, “Qatar’s shadow over the West and Israel,” the question is posed, “How can a nation be both an arsonist and a firefighter?” The co-authors, Louis Liben and Dr. Michael J. Salamon ask because when a country, which played a role in the October 7th massacre by “financing the construction of terror tunnels and procuring weapons” makes overtures to a Western, democratic superpower, desiring to work together, to be beneficial to one another, you have to wonder what their real motive is, since it is obvious that their value systems are worlds apart.
It's pretty hard to make a case that Qatar lacks a well-planned out agenda since it has already strategically invested so much of its wealth in an effort to extend its tentacles into the venues which they know will yield the greatest windfall. That includes think tanks and media outlets, the places which are likely to most influence Western populations as a result of their powerful platforms.
From those mega perches, they can change minds, thinking, perceptions and whatever they want, affecting political and social arenas – a switch which must take place before the enemy is able to make an inroad into the human battlefield to gain full control. After all, everything can be altered through enough time and money.
Anyone who doesn’t see it that way is either duped, incredibly naïve or happily willing to be sold out to the highest bidder. But make no mistake. All the fanfare, glitz and dazzle are just the beginning.
In some ways, it’s reminiscent of the ominous warning given in the biblical passage of Proverbs 7, “I have come out to meet you, to seek your presence. I have spread my couch with coverings, with colored linens of Egypt. I have sprinkled my bed with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon. Come, let’s drink our fill of love until the morning. Let’s delight ourselves with caresses… with her flattering lips she seduces him. Suddenly he follows her as an ox goes to the slaughter or as one walks in ankle bracelets to the discipline of a fool, until an arrow pierces his liver; as a bird hurries to the snare, so he does not know that it will cost him his life.” (15-23)
This is the worry when deals are made with countries which have heavily invested in the evil plans of others whose goal is the destruction of modern civilization as they seek to replace it with the dark ages of barbaric savagery that views people through the lens of property to be seized for their personal intentions.
And what are those intentions? It is the reward of jihad but one which no one saw coming, since it was carefully disguised as a friendly gesture, a warm handshake and a grandiose reception. Its end is the successful acquisition of all people adhering to Islam – the faith which hopes to gain global dominance, culminating in worldwide control.
No, it doesn’t look that way at the moment. In fact, a very convincing case has been made for joining forces in order to usher in prosperity, peace and the end of all conflict – attainable ideals wanted by all!
We are told that these things only come by taking bold and daring steps which most are too timid to try. And while that can be applied to some ventures, it should not be risked when it comes to such diametrically opposing sides whose philosophy and ideology cannot be bridged because they are just too polar opposite and adverse to one another.
It’s like expecting a hungry wild animal to forego their prey. It’s not going to happen, and this is no different.
We have witnessed the onslaught of jihad, a term which was unfamiliar to most of us until the last few decades, but its inhumane results of torture, murder, rape and every kind of brutality, such as what occurred on October 7th, has been a stark warning, alerting us to the vast differences that exist in societies where freedom is abhorred and bondage is sought to be placed on everyone.
As tempting as it seems to grab the goodies offered by those extending the glad hand of friendship, we must not forget that it’s an offer being extended by jihadists disguised as friends.
