The Trump administration is promoting a plan for the permanent relocation of approximately one million Palestinians from Gaza to Libya, according to a report by NBC News on Friday, citing five sources.

According to the sources, the plan is being discussed with the Libyan government. In exchange for absorbing the Palestinians, the U.S. administration would potentially unfreeze billions of dollars for Libya that were frozen by the U.S. more than a decade ago. No final agreement has been reached yet, and Israel has been informed about the discussions.

According to the report, various locations in Libya are being considered for settling the Palestinians, and ways to transfer them there are also being examined. Additionally, Syria is also being considered as a possible destination for the displaced Palestinians. This is part of Trump's plan for control over Gaza "the day after."

During his visit to Qatar two days ago, U.S. President Donald Trump said that his country should “take” Gaza and turn it into a “freedom zone.” About a week ago, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas strongly rejected the option of establishing an U.S. administration in Gaza during a press conference he held in Moscow following a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Abbas added: “We have informed the Americans that we strongly oppose this. Neither the Americans nor any other entity has the right to be in the Gaza Strip. We (the Palestinian Authority) need to go to Gaza, to return to the Strip. We are capable of governing this area justly, fairly, and with love.”
