Nasrallah warns Israel against targeted assassinations of Palestinian terror officials in Lebanon

War of words between Israel and Hezbollah has escalated in recent months

Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Iranian-backed Lebanese Hezbollah terror organization, warned on Monday that potential Israeli assassinations in Lebanon would “lead to a strong reaction.”

Nasrallah’s threat comes after Israel recently indicated it would potentially target Hamas officials and other senior terrorists in Gaza and Lebanon in response to the growing terrorism against Israeli civilians in Judea and Samaria.

The war of words between the Jewish state and Hezbollah has escalated in recent months, with both sides threatening to send the other side back to the Stone Age.

In his latest interview with Hezbollah-affiliated al-Manar TV, Nasrallah rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent statement that Iran is behind the growing terrorism in Judea and Samaria, known as the West Bank.

”The Israeli enemy, in the face of the escalation of resistance in the West Bank, fled to accuse Iran and to pretend that what is happening there is an Iranian plan and that the Palestinians there are tools, and this is foolishness,” the Hezbollah chief claimed.

“The battle in the West Bank is with the Palestinian people. Yes, the Islamic Republic supports the oppressed Palestinian people, but the resistance project is a Palestinian project,” Nasrallah added.

Hezbollah is widely considered Iran’s most powerful terror proxy and its growing missile and drone arsenal has become a strategic threat to Israel.

During a meeting in New York on Monday, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant urged United Nations Sec.-Gen. Antonio Guterres to defuse the situation, to prevent a potential war between Hezbollah and Israel.

“The UN must act immediately,” Gallant said in reference to strengthening the mandate of the UNIFIL peacekeeper mission on the Lebanese-Israeli border.

Gallant accused Iran and Hezbollah of provoking a conflict with Israel.

“The potential for a violent escalation on Israel’s northern border is growing, as a result of flagrant violations by the Iranian-backed Hezbollah,” warned the defense minister.
