Landmark sites across the globe from New York to Berlin lit in blue and white in solidarity with Israel
Following the Hamas terror attack on Israel on Saturday, cities worldwide from New York and Miami to Berlin and Prague showed their solidarity with the embattled Jewish state by lighting up their landmark sites in blue and white.
Hamas terrorists launched a devastating terror attack in the early morning hours of Saturday that has claimed the lives of at least 350 Israelis and injured close to 2,000 Israeli citizens.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul instructed the state to light iconic buildings like the Empire State Building and the One World Trade Center with the Israeli flag colors of blue and white.
"New York stands with Israel – today and every day," Hochul vowed. "As governor, I am committed to supporting, uplifting and protecting our vibrant Jewish community," the governor added.
Niagara Falls and Miami City Hall also displayed solidarity with Israel.
In Berlin, the German capital, the iconic Brandenburg Gate was lit up in blue and white in a display of solidarity with the Jewish state. The Petrin Tower in the Czech capital Prague was also lit in support of Israel.
Austria's capital Vienna, hoisted Israel's blue and white flag outside of the Foreign Ministry building and the Austrian Chancellor’s Office.
The Muslim-majority state of Azerbaijan, which enjoys close ties with Israel, also lit up large buildings in blue and white.
World leaders, including U.S. President Joe Biden, have condemned the devastating Hamas terror attack against Israel and expressed their support for the Jewish state’s right to defend itself.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump stressed that Israel has “every right to defend itself with overwhelming force.”
Trump also blasted Biden for releasing billions of dollars to the Iranian ayatollah regime to provide support terror proxies, such as Hamas and Hezbollah.
“Sadly, American taxpayer dollars helped fund these attacks, which many reports are saying came from the Biden administration. We brought so much peace to the Middle East through the Abraham Accords, only to see Biden whittle it away at a far more rapid pace than anyone thought possible. Here we go again,” added the former president.
The British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak stressed that Israel has an “absolute right to defend itself” against the unprecedented Hamas terror attack.
The British leader wrote on X (former Twitter) that he was "shocked by this morning's attacks by Hamas terrorists against Israeli citizens."
Similar sentiments of support came from France, Italy, India and Japan.
Meanwhile, authorities in Great Britain and France have increased security around Jewish institutions due to fear that the Hamas assault could inspire local Islamists in Europe to strike against Jewish communities.
