After news of the assassination attempt on former U.S. President Donald Trump, Israeli politicians from across the political spectrum expressed their condemnations of the attack and their prayers for a quick recovery.

The dramatic attack on the former president seemed to provide a rare moment of unity among politicians who have often clashed online over issues ranging from the Gaza War and coalition policies.

While the various politicians have all disagreed over those issues, most are united in their appreciation for the United States' support for Israel, especially under the administration of Trump, who brought about the Abraham Accords normalization agreements and moved the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem after decades of promises by previous administrations to do so.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted a video statement expressing his prayers for Trump’s recovery.

“Sara and I were shocked by the apparent attack on President Trump. We pray for his safety and speedy recovery.”

Netanyahu also called the shooting “an attack on America” and “an attack on democracy.”

President Isaac Herzog also condemned the shooting and wished Trump “a speedy recovery.”

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant shared his wishes for “recovery and strength” saying Israel stands “with the American people.”

Foreign Minister Israel Katz wrote that he was “shocked” by the shooting.

Likud party member and newly-appointed Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon wished Trump “a swift and full recovery.”

Opposition leader and former War Cabinet member, Benny Gantz, wished Trump “a swift recovery” while praising the resiliency of the American people.

Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennet said he is praying for Trump’s recovery and the United States, stating, “May God bless you.”

Opposition leader Yair Lapid, who heads the Yesh Atid party, said he was troubled by the assassination attempt on Trump.

Energy Minister Eli Cohen said he was praying for Trump and warned against Israelis “inciting against Prime Minister Netanyahu.”

Former Netanyahu-ally turned opposition member Avigdor Liberman, posted a message in both English and Hebrew condemning the attack and wishing Trump a “speedy and full recovery.”

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir posted a simple message in English: “God Bless Trump.”

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich wrote, “Praying from the Holy Land for President Trump.”

Former U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman addressed Trump on social media, writing: “The people of Israel all have you in their prayers.”
