Israel and Hamas reportedly in advanced talks to free more hostages
Following the release of two elderly Israeli female hostages by Hamas last night, a senior government official told the Times of Israel that Israel and Hamas are in advanced talks to release an additional 50 hostages.
Negotiations are taking place through Egyptian and Qatari mediators, according to the announcement.
Hamas has reportedly demanded the transfer of more fuel into Gaza as a condition for the release.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Israel has said it will only allow fuel into the Gaza Strip if all hostages are released.
Of the 220 hostages believed to be in Gaza, some are reportedly in the possession of Palestinian Islamic Jihad or other smaller terror factions.
However, Israel holds the Hamas terror organization responsible for their wellbeing.
