US House Speaker Mike Johnson calls for Biden to resign immediately — Trump reacts to Biden’s bombshell, as do GOP, Democrat leaders

The “Biden Bombshell” on Sunday afternoon in Washington is triggering a wide range of reactions from leaders of both political parties.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson just issued the following statement.

At this unprecedented juncture in American history, we must be clear about what just happened. The Democrat Party forced the Democrat nominee off the ballot, just over 100 days before the election.

Having invalidated the votes of more than 14 million Americans who selected Joe Biden to be the Democrat nominee for president, the self-proclaimed ‘party of democracy’ has proven exactly the opposite.

The party’s prospects are no better now with Vice President Kamala Harris, who co-owns the disastrous policy failures of the Biden Administration. As second in command and a completely inept border czar, Harris has been a gleeful accomplice – not only in the destruction of American sovereignty, security, and prosperity, but also in the largest political coverup in U.S. history. She has known for as long as anyone of his incapacity to serve.

Regardless of the chaos in the current White House, our adversaries around the globe should be reminded that the U.S. Congress, the U.S. military, and the American people are fully prepared and committed to defend our interests both at home and abroad.

If Joe Biden is not fit to run for President, he is not fit to serve as President. He must resign the office immediately. November 5 cannot arrive soon enough.

Former President Donald Trump issued the following statement, saying that Biden was never fit to run for office or to serve, and adding that Americans have suffered greatly because of Biden’s policies and lack of leadership.

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise also quickly issued a statement, saying that Biden’s “extreme agenda” has caused “crushing” inflation, “the worst border crisis in our lifetime” and “chaos around the world.”

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on X that even though the Democrats now have to change leaders, “the choice facing Americans this November remains the same.”

Pompeo argued that Trump is the only candidate who can keep the American people safe in an “increasingly dangerous world.”

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — who has been pushing Biden to make a quick decision to drop out of the race — was quick to praise Biden’s decision and express to Biden the “love and gratitude” that she and fellow Democrats feel towards him.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer — the highest ranking Jewish person in the Democratic Party — was also quick to praise Biden.

“Joe Biden has not only been a great president and a great legislative leader but he's a truly amazing human being. His decision of course was not easy, but he once again put his country, his party, and our future first. Joe, today shows you are a true patriot and great American.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom — widely touted as a possible challenger to Kamala Harris — moved quickly to praise Biden, but said nothing about the V.P.

“President Biden has been an extraordinary, history-making president — a leader who has fought hard for working people and delivered astonishing results for all Americans. He will go down in history as one of the most impactful and selfless presidents. Thank you, @JoeBiden.”

Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton immediately issued a statement praising Biden and endorsing Vice President Harris.
