Israeli documentary on Nova massacre 'We Will Dance Again' is nominated for News & Documentary Emmy Award

The Television Academy announced on Friday that the Israeli documentary “We Will Dance Again,” which deals with the massacre at the Nova Festival on October 7, has made it to the final five in two categories at the News & Documentary Emmy Awards. The film was nominated in the categories of Outstanding Current Affairs Documentary and Outstanding Editing: Documentary. The award ceremony will take place on June 26 in New York.
Two days ago, the Academy announced that director Yariv Mozer’s film will receive the prestigious Television Academy Honors. The Television Academy has awarded this special prize since 2008 in recognition of works that raise social awareness, enlighten, educate, inspire, and have the power to drive real social change. This marks the first time an Israeli project has received this honor, which is distinct from the Emmy Awards for television excellence.
Alongside “We Will Dance Again,” five other productions will receive the prestigious award – Netflix’s documentaries Girls and Will & Harper, Greener Pastures from PBS, and the scripted productions Out of My Mind from Hulu and Genius: MLK/X from National Geographic. The honor will be awarded at a special ceremony hosted by the Academy on May 28 in Los Angeles.
“We Will Dance Again” tells the story of survivors of the Nova Festival, which turned from a celebration of music and peace into a scene of terror. The film was produced by Slutzky Productions, in collaboration with the Israeli company SIPUR and the American company See It Now, part of the Paramount media group. It is available to view on HOT8, HOT VOD, and Next TV.
"‘We Will Dance Again’ is much more than a television work – it is one of the most important human documents created here,” said Uri Gal, VP of Marketing and Content at HOT. “The Emmy nomination is a testament to the power of the story, the bravery of the survivors, and the strength of quality television to tell the truth and move hearts around the world. We at HOT are proud to be the home of this film, and we will continue to do everything we can to amplify the voices of those who went through hell.”
"We are proud and excited about this extraordinary achievement,” said Rinat Klein, director of HOT8 and CEO of Slutzky Productions. “A nomination for the Emmy, one of the most prestigious awards in the television world, is proof of the power of this film. From the very beginning, we knew this was a film that had to be made – not only as a documentary record, but as a deep human statement about the spirit of life and love of an entire generation. This international recognition is not only moving – it is also a responsibility, and it gives a platform and a voice to survivors who choose to keep living and dancing despite everything.”
"‘We Will Dance Again’ is not just a film – it’s a reminder of the power of personal stories and of the ability of Israeli storytelling to touch hearts around the world,” said Emilio Schenker, CEO of SIPUR. “Winning such a significant award from the American Television Academy and making it to the list of Emmy nominees is a badge of honor for the creators and for the survivors alike.”
