UN report on children in conflict zones omits Hamas murder of Bibas boys, Hezbollah killing of 12 Druze children
Israeli UN envoy blasts report as part of UN's 'diplomatic terrorism'

The United Nations’ annual report on children in conflict zones did not report that the young Israeli hostages Kfir and Ariel Bibas were murdered by Hamas terrorists in Gaza. Instead, the report whitewashed the crimes of the terror group by vaguely stating the boys "died in captivity."
The report noted 8,555 “verified serious violations” against 2,960 children in the Israel-Hamas conflict but claimed that 15 were Israeli children and the rest, exclusively Palestinian children. This claim was made despite Israel’s efforts to minimize civilian casualties, in stark contrast to Hamas, who specifically targets civilians. The report also omitted the 2024 killing of 12 Druze children in Israel’s Golan Heights by the Hezbollah terrorist organization in Lebanon.
The report accused Israel of harming children, caused by the impact of rocket interceptions, while failing to mention that the interceptions were a response to last year’s Iranian missile attacks on Israel.
The report, which is scheduled to be published in June, accused the Israeli military of using “27 Palestinian children as human shields,” but made no mention of Hamas using Palestinian civilians in Gaza as human shields – a flagrant violation of international law. In addition, the report also accused Israeli forces of “kidnapping a Palestinian girl” without providing any credible evidence.
The UN report indicated that Israel was largely to blame for the humanitarian aid challenges in Gaza, ignoring that Hamas deliberately destroyed border crossings and repeatedly stole international aid earmarked for the civilian population in Gaza.
Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon blasted the biased report released by the United Nations, calling the claims against Israel "baseless accusations."
"We will not cooperate with a report that serves as a platform for baseless accusations against Israel. The Secretary-General once again chooses to blatantly ignore the harm done to Israeli children – as far as he’s concerned, our lives are worth less and don’t deserve to be included in this report.
"We will not let diplomatic terrorism prevail," the Israeli UN envoy stated.
The UN report used Hamas’ unverified statistics when reporting the number of casualties and fatalities in Gaza. However, in May 2024, UN’s own data revealed that the official Gaza death statistics were at least 50% incorrect. The report placed nearly all responsibility for the destruction on Israel, mentioning Iran’s and Hezbollah’s attacks on Israel only briefly.
The UN's Children and Armed Conflict report claimed that, in 10 instances, the IDF used hospitals and schools for military purposes, however, it did not provide verifiable evidence. At the same time, the report largely ignored Hamas' deliberate choice to embed its fighters and weapons in civilian structures, such as hospitals, mosques and schools.
Last month, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order to withdraw the United States from the UN Human Rights Council due to its endemic hostility and bias against Israel.
The executive order stated that “some of the UN’s agencies…act contrary to the interests of the United States while attacking our allies and propagating anti-Semitism.” It further emphasized that the U.S. “will not participate in the UNHRC,” “will not fund UNRWA,” and will “conduct a review of its membership in UNESCO,” with a focus on “an analysis of any anti-Semitism or anti-Israel sentiment within the organization.”
