"And the Lord said, 'Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know." (Genesis 18:20-21)

The Bible describes how the two notoriously sinful cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God for their wickedness. But is there any evidence proving that the cities ever existed?

That was the leading question behind a decade-long research study conducted by biblical archaeologist, Dr. Steven Collins in the Middle East.

In the upcoming episode of THE ROSENBERG REPORT, which airs on TBN on Thursday, Collins sits down for an exclusive interview with host Joel C. Rosenberg, editor-in-chief of ALL ISRAEL NEWS.

“When you do science, you don't rely on belief,” Collins told Rosenberg. “It doesn't matter what I believe, what somebody else believes. The only thing that really matters is what the evidence is on the ground.”

Collins’ ground-shaking findings directly refute the conventional wisdom of the world, according to which the Bible is not true and Sodom and Gomorrah were not real but mythological. He also countered previous research by Dr. William Albright, who believed Sodom was located south of the Dead Sea.

How did Collins and his team do it? First, by turning to the Bible, the only ancient text that survived with the name of Sodom and detailed its geography.

During the interview, Collins explains to Rosenberg that when the Bible mentions the location of ancient cities, it is not making up their geography. When it comes to Sodom, he said, the Bible includes at least 25 geographical clues that lead to the city’s location.

"There's so much specific information about the location of these cities that you would practically have to be blind and illiterate not to be able to find the location of Sodom because there are at least 25 known pieces of geography that you can triangulate between to take you to the city of Sodom. It's not difficult,” according to one of the world’s foremost biblical archaeologists.

Biblical clues have led Collins, author of “Discovering the City of Sodom,” to the southern Jordan Valley region, about 8 miles northeast of the Dead Sea, to a site called Tall el-Hammam.

Did the archaeologists discover any proof that ‘fire and brimstone from heaven’ wiped out Sodom? And why does he think it is so hard for people to accept that this biblical city was destroyed by God?
