As part of the ongoing anti-terror operations in the West Bank, Israeli forces arrested numerous terror suspects, including the secretary-general of the Fatah party in Jenin.

Sixty-three-year-old Ata Abu Rumaila and his son are suspected terror operatives in the greater Jenin area and were arrested in a joint operation by Israel Defense Forces, the Shin Bet security agency, and Israel's Border Police.

Abu Rumaila was wanted for his part in the recent escalation of the security situation in Jenin, which he supported with tens of thousands of shekels in funding, and by helping wanted terrorists and inciting attacks against Israel and IDF soldiers.

Arresting a senior operative of Fatah, which is led by Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the Palestinian Authority, is highly unusual.

Overall, 46 wanted persons were arrested overnight throughout the West Bank, also known as Judea and Samaria, 30 of whom are known members of the Hamas terror organization.

In addition, Israeli forces confiscated weapons, ammunition and terror funds.

IDF commandos, engineering units, and Border Police forces conducted a largescale anti-terror operation in the Jenin area, during which terrorists opened fire at them and threw explosive charges.

An IDF drone attacked them with an airstrike in response, hitting several of the terrorists.

At the Jenin refugee camp, Israeli military forces located and destroyed an underground shaft containing ammunition, while the Border Police confiscated military equipment and ammunition found in a suspicious vehicle.

Engineering vehicles discovered ready-to-use charges buried under the roads in the camp that were intended to harm Israeli troops.

The Jenin raid was one of the largest in the West Bank since the start of the war against Hamas on Oct. 7 with the participation of about 100 soldiers and numerous armored vehicles, according to Palestinian sources.

No Israeli soldiers were wounded during the operation.

Since the war began, approximately 1,180 wanted persons have been arrested throughout the West Bank, with approximately 740 being associated with Hamas, according to the IDF.
