Prayer invoking gender politics 'A-men and A-woman' is a cracking of the biblical foundation upon which the US was founded

Joseph Magen addresses the misuse of "Amen" and discusses its real Hebrew meaning

On Jan. 3, the 117th Congress of the United States of America was opened with a prayer led by House democrat, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, a Missouri congressman and reverend of St. James United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Cleaver finishes the two-and-a-half minute invocation with this closing statement: “We ask it in the name of the monotheistic God, Brahma, and god known by many names by many different faiths. Amen and A-women.”

Cleaver’s decision to push gender politics in a prayer is very disconcerting. The misuse of the Hebrew word “Amen” was literally shocking to many of us. Cleaver further diminishes God’s name by invoking the name of Brahma — the Hindu creator god.

In this video, ALL ISRAEL NEWS Managing Editor, Joseph Magen, provides:

  • a brief, but interesting explanation of the Hebrew root word “Amen.”

  • biblical references to the true name of God and why Cleaver’s closing words of this prayer are cause for concern.

Magen says, “To water down the name of God in the United States Congress is a cracking of the foundation.”
