Netanyahu family security moved to Shin Bet
Following last week's incident in which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s wife, Sarah Netanyahu, was blocked from leaving a hair salon by protestors, the Ministerial Committee for Shin Bet Affairs approved the transfer of security protection for Netanyahu's family from a special police unit to the Israeli Security Agency (ISA), or Shin Bet.
Last Wednesday evening, droves of anti-government protestors encircled the hair salon where Sarah Netanyahu was having her hair done, preventing her from leaving the premises for more than three hours. The protesters chanted slogans against the Israeli government’s judicial reforms which they argue threatens the nation's democratic nature.
One of Shin Bet's three operational groups is responsible for protective security for government officials, embassies, Israeli airlines and certain research facilities.
