Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to dismiss Shas leader Aryeh Deri during this week's Cabinet meeting today. Netanyahu had appointed Deri with two positions in the new government, as health minister and interior minister.
The move comes after the High Court of Justice ruled on Wednesday that Netanyahu’s appointment of Deri was “unreasonable in the extreme” given his conviction for tax fraud last year. If Netanyahu does not dismiss Deri soon, he could be charged with contempt of court.
