At the end of the fifth week of the war, Palestinian Islamic Jihad released a video showing Yagil. It was also later announced that the 13-year-old suffers from a life-threatening allergy.
On Oct. 7, Yagil and Or's father was taken to Gaza, along with his girlfriend and minutes later, his two sons were also taken. Just before, their mother talked to them on the phone: "She talked to them crying, she heard the younger one (Yagil) say, 'Don't take me captive, I'm too small,'" their uncle said in an interview.
With the release of the video showing Yagil alive, the family shared some moments of happiness. "Yagil's face was thinner, the eyes were darker, you can see the sadness there," added his uncle Yaniv.
