Jessica Seinfeld: Oct. 7 horror has erased divisions in Israel
Wife of Jewish-American comedian summarized family visit to Israel they made last week in instagram post
"We just got home from Israel," wrote Jessica Seinfeld in a post she published on Sunday before dawn to her 602,000 followers.
"We wanted to see for ourselves the impacts of the October 7 attacks. We saw homes where families were tortured, shot, bombed and burned alive. We stood in a field where kids at a music festival were murdered and kidnapped by the hundreds as they fled."
"As painful as it was to be in those places, however, what I will remember the most is the people we met in Israel," she continued. "Heroes who rescued and saved thousands of lives. Young people from New York who came to work on farms to replace those who have gone to fight against Hamas. Former hostages, and families of those still being held, who have been through trauma but are still seeking to help. Extraordinary individuals who have come together to provide emergency assistance through citizen service."
"This was my fifth visit to Israel, and I have never seen a more unified country. Among people of all walks of life, from wounded soldiers to families of peace activists whose mothers, fathers or siblings were murdered or are still held captive in Gaza, the horror of October 7 has erased divisions within Israel. Everyone has come together for a greater cause – to defeat Hamas, to build a better and safer Israel, and a better, safer world."
Seinfeld made a four-day visit to Israel last week with her husband, prominent American-Jewish comedian Jerry Seinfeld, and their children. They visited the Abducted and Missing Families Forum, toured Kibbutz Be'eri, visited the injured at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer, and the site where the Nova Music Festival was held, near Kibbutz Re’im.
