Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant once again hit back against members of the government coalition who attacked the Israeli military in recent weeks, according to a Maariv report
"Recently, elected officials, including ministers and Knesset members, allow themselves to make false, baseless, and irresponsible statements about the IDF, its commanders and soldiers,” Gallant said on Sunday, while speaking at an IDF ceremony to honor outstanding soldiers.
“These are outrageous statements that endanger the most important asset that the State of Israel has, the Israel Defense Forces. Our protective tool, for all the citizens of Israel. You, commanders, soldiers of the IDF and members of the security forces who dedicate your lives to the security of the country and the protection of its citizens, deserve every support, and those who try to discredit you deserve every condemnation,” Gallant told the soldiers.
“Without the IDF, it is not possible to sustain the State of Israel in the hostile environment in which we live,” Gallant noted and added that as defense minister, he will continue to protect the IDF just as he would protect the state itself.
The latest attack from the ranks of the coalition against the IDF came on Friday, as Likud part Knesset Member Tali Gottlieb wrote on Twitter, formerly X: “It is good to know that the Shin Bet and the IDF work for the terrorists and security prisoners. The entire deep state is against Minister Ben Gvir. Well done to you, Itamar, for true right-wing governance. Security prisoners, brutal murderers enjoy cozy prison conditions for years. And if reducing the rights of murderous terrorists according to the Shin Bet and IDF will harm security, then something very bad is happening here.”
