Israel-Premier Tech Cycling Team's Sylvan Adams won the UCI Medio Fondo Road Race World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland on Friday.

Adams, an Israeli-Canadian businessman and philanthropist, was declared the world champion for his age group – 65-69 years old – after a strong showing, having achieved an average speed of nearly 25 mph over the 54-mile-long circuit.

Adams, a founder and co-owner of the Israel-Premier Tech Cycling Team, will also participate in the Masters time trial event on Monday, as he seeks to increase the number of stellar performances for his team this summer.

Last week, team members Itamar Einhorn and Oded Kogut won the first stage of the Czech Tour and the second state of the Dookola Mazowsza races respectively, on the same day.

At the time, Israeli Sports Director Dror Pekatch said, “Today marks the first time in history that two Israelis win on the same day in two separate races.”

The stage victory by Oded Kogut made him the first Israeli cyclist to be crowned winner of a stage race.

“I’ll start from the end: there’s nobody prouder or happier than me about this win. But this historic milestone isn’t just mine – it belongs to all my teammates because without them I wouldn’t have stood a chance," Kogut said following the win.

He also spoke of the team’s future hopes.

“I am proud to become the first Israeli to win a stage race, but I am also convinced that this is just another step in the journey of Israeli cycling. My friends have completed major tours like the Tour de France. Now that we have won our first yellow jersey in a race, bigger goals lie ahead!”

The Israel-Premier Tech Cycling Team, established in 2014, also had a strong showing in the Tour de France race earlier in July, demonstrating the most aggressive performance of any team in the race.

“This was our best performance ever in the Tour, especially in the greatest race in the world. We won a massive stage and were the most aggressive team here,” Adams said after the team crossed the finish line in Paris.

Not content with that achievement alone, team riders have continued their outstanding performances in subsequent races.

Team member Sebastian Berwick won the Tour Alsace on July 30.

Last year, ALL ISRAEL NEWS correspondent Tal Heinrich interviewed Adams, a philanthropist, who said he is grateful for the Christian community and that Israel has ‘no better friend in the world’ than Evangelicals.
