Israeli Arabs arrested for receiving weapons smuggled by Hezbollah and Iran
Four Israeli Arab citizens, three residents of Kfar Kassem and one resident of Lod in central Israel, were arrested in July for possession of weapons smuggled into Israel by Hezbollah, the Shin Bet announced on Thursday.
In a joint operation, Shin Bet security forces, the IDF troops and the Israel Police seized the suspects from a residential home in the town of Lod, and captured weapons, ammunition and explosive devices, some of which were produced in Iran.
According to the Shin Bet, the weapons were smuggled by a network operated by the Lebanese-based Hezbollah terror organization, which is well-known for procuring weapons for criminals and terrorists.
"This affair once again illustrates the efforts of terrorist elements from Hezbollah and Iran to exploit the Arab citizens of Israel for activities against the state. Also, the investigation revealed that the seam between terror and criminality is extremely thin,” the Shin Bet statement read.
