The Israeli National Security Council warned Israeli travelers to be mindful of potential Iranian terrorist attacks during the upcoming holiday of Passover, traditionally a period when many Israelis travel abroad.

The NSC urged Israeli travelers “to be aware, to act responsibly in accordance with the level of danger in the country being visited.”

In its annual security assessment, the NSC stressed that the risk of Iranian-affiliated terrorism was particularly high in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Egypt, Bahrain, Azerbaijan and Georgia. In addition, the NSC warned of potential Iranian terror attempts against Israeli and Jewish tourists visiting Greece and Cyprus.

The Israeli Security Agency (ISA) warned Israelis against non-essential travel to Bahrain, Turkey and the UAE, in particular.

While Iranian terrorist activities are concentrated in the Middle East and neighboring countries, the NSC warned that the Islamist ayatollah regime was also targeting political dissidents in Europe and North America.

“There were activities in Western Europe and Scandinavia against opposition figures, and also reports of activities against American officials on European soil,” the NSC stated.

ISA warned that Iran is increasingly using sophisticated means to target Israeli travelers.

“In the past year, attempts by Iranian terror operatives to establish contact (using a business cover/disguise) with Israeli citizens, in Israel and abroad, has continued, … in order to extract them to carry out an attack or to kidnap them,” according to the NSC report.

In its shadow war against Israel, the Iranian regime often prefers attacking soft targets, such as Israeli travelers or Jewish diaspora communities.
