Israel to offer AstraZeneca to Israelis who experienced side effects from Pfizer shot
Israel plans to offer the AstraZeneca COVID vaccine for those who experienced significant side effects from Pfizer's mRNA shot, the Health Ministry said on Monday.
Israelis seeking the AZ shot will need a doctor's note with medical reasons for requesting the different brand.
This comes after the Ministry of Health published a Facebook post at the end of September claiming that the third shot of the Pfizer vaccine resulted in very few side effects. The post was flooded with comments by Israelis claiming very serious side effects or knowing people who died from the shot. Thousands of the comments were deleted by the Ministry of Health.
The AZ vaccine does not use the mRNA technology like Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, but rather is based on a weakened COVID virus.
