Iron Dome intercepts Hamas drone over Gaza
The Israel Defense Forces earlier Wednesday morning announced that the IDF's Iron Dome batteries operating near the Gaza Strip “intercepted a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization.”
The drone reportedly did not cross into Israeli territory or pose a threat to Israeli communities, according to the IDF statement.
There were no air raid sirens prior to the Irone Dome interception, as the sirens are only activated by the detection of a ballistic launch.
Following the incident, Israeli Air Force fighter jets were seen patrolling the area.
In February, the IDF also shot down a suspected Hamas drone over Gaza.
