Home of Jerusalem terrorist to be destroyed

The family home of the deceased terrorist responsible for last Friday's shooting attack outside a Jerusalem synagogue will be demolished, according to a statement from the Israeli government. The deadly attack in ultra-Orthodox neighborhood, Neve Yaakov, resulted in the murder of six Israelis and a Ukrainian citizen.

Shortly after the terror attack, the home of 21-year-old Khairi Alkam, located in East Jerusalem's Abu Tor neighborhood, was sealed off by Israel's Security Agency and police forces in preparation for its destruction, in accordance with Israel's Security Cabinet. During that Cabinet meeting, Israel security also decided to sanction the relatives of terrorists who, themselves, are known to support terrorism.

The demolition of the home is a further punishment to the family, intended to a deter any future acts of terrorism. Other measures will include denying family members Israeli identity cards, national insurance and other citizen benefits.

The shooting attack attracted widespread condemnation for its brutality, as the terrorist killed children and the elderly, as well as civilians who attempted to assist victims during the ongoing rampage.

A Hamas spokesman referred to the multiple shootings as “heroism and not terrorism.”
