‘Hamas worse than ISIS,’ Netanyahu tells Biden on 3rd phone call since start of Israel-Hamas war
Israeli premier thanks Biden for ‘unequivocal support’
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with U.S. President Joe Biden Tuesday evening.
The call marked their third conversation since the Hamas terror organization invaded Israel’s southern communities on Saturday.
Netanyahu told Biden that Israel has “never seen such savagery” in its history.
“They're even worse than ISIS and we need to treat them as such,” Netanyahu said.
The prime minister thanked Biden for the United States’ “continued and unequivocal support” for Israel, as well as the Biden administration’s support during the war.
Netanyahu said the Israeli people were touched by the support expressed by U.S. leaders, including National Security Spokesman John Kirby, who was overcome with emotion while speaking with CNN’s Jake Tapper on Monday about the horrifying images coming out of Israel.
“The Israeli people were deeply moved by the emotion that Admiral Kirby showed in his interview yesterday,” Netanyahu told Biden. “It was deeply moving, and it represented the depth of commitment that you have, your administration have and the American people have for Israel.”
The premier said he wanted to give Biden “a clear picture of the difficult situation we face.”
“We were struck Saturday by an attack whose savagery we have not seen since the Holocaust,” Netanyahu said. “We've had hundreds massacred, families wiped out in their beds, in their homes, women brutally raped and murdered, over 100 kidnapped, including children.”
The prime minister told the U.S. president how Hamas terrorists “took dozens of children, bound them up, burned them and executed them. They beheaded soldiers.”
President Biden delivered a speech shortly after the phone call, declaring the invasion “an act of sheer evil.”
Biden also compared the Hamas atrocities to those of ISIS, saying “Hamas does not stand for the Palestinian people’s right to dignity and self-determination.”
At the conclusion, Biden pledged that America will continue to support Israel during this time, saying “The United States has Israel’s back.”
As part of that support, the Israel Ministry of Defense announced the arrival of an initial shipment of advanced weaponry from the United States to assist in the war effort against Hamas.
