Prime Minister Naftali Bennett dedicated a vaccination center at a movie theater in Jerusalem on Wednesday while hailing the third shot that Israel was the forerunner in recommending.
“Israel has the courage to be the first in the world to vaccinate with a booster inoculation. This is not self-evident; it was a professional decision, but it is also an essential decision in order to try and avoid harsher measures,” he said.
“I call on everyone to take Mom and Dad. Now there is the new commandment: Vaccinate your father and mother.”
Bennett said that Israel is trying to avoid a situation of overcrowded hospitals and another lockdown.
“We are in a race between the rate of immunization and the rate of infection,” he said. “The bottom line is that in order for us to not have to resort to much harsher restrictions, we will vaccinate, wear masks and maintain distance. It is in our hands."
The new vaccination station is at Cinema City in Jerusalem.
