Gallant downplays danger from Hezbollah tents on Israeli side of border
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant downplayed the importance of two Hezbollah tents that were pitched on the Israeli side of the Israel-Lebanese border in June, according to a report by Israel's Kan news.
During a meeting of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Gallant reportedly said: "This is a tactical, not a strategic incident. The tent doesn't pose a security risk. We won't enable a violation of our sovereignty, but we will do it at a time and in a way of our choosing. There have been such provocations in the past and there will be more in the future."
Gallant's comments came shortly after National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi called the tents "child's play."
