Netanyahu may wheel-lock the High Court judicial reform hearings
According to a report on Maariv news, Netanyahu is considering adopting President Isaac Herzog’s compromise proposal in order to prevent a constitutional crisis.
Part of that compromise proposal would involve a softening of the Reasonableness Standard Law approved by the Knesset in July.
Netanyahu is considering making an announcement Monday evening, before the High Court hearing regarding his “unilateral decision” to advance the president’s compromise proposal.
Netanyahu will reportedly convene an emergency meeting this evening with Justice Minister Yariv Levin, Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs and Michael Rabello, Netanyahu's personal attorney.
If he chooses this option, Netanyahu is expected to state he made the decision in the absence of a “genuine negotiating partner.”
