Second Israeli soccer player in Turkey detained for pro-Israeli messages
Israeli soccer player Eden Kartsev, who plays in Istanbul, was detained by the Turkish police for expressing support for the Israeli hostages in the hands of the Hamas terror group, marking the second incident of this type this week.
Israeli media reported that Kartsev was detained for reposting an image marking 100 days of the captivity of Israeli hostages with the hashtag “#BringThemHomeNow.”
Kartsev’s team – İstanbul Başakşehir – said it would consider disciplinary action against him for violating the club’s disciplinary rules and harming “sensitive values” in Turkey.
On Monday, Turkey decided to deport Israeli soccer player Sagiv Yehezkel after showing a gesture of support for the hostages on his wristband while celebrating a goal on-field.
