Israel confiscates 16 tons of rocket production material bound for Gaza Strip
Israeli authorities confiscated shipping containers destined for the Gaza Strip that were found to be transporting hidden material that can be used to build rockets, Israeli media reported on Thursday.
Authorities with Israel's Customs Clearance in Ashdod and the National Cargo Inspection Center detained two containers from Turkey that were discovered to contain 16 tons of ammonium chloride hidden within bags of building plaster.
“Ammonium chloride is a dual-use substance known to be used by the terrorist organization in Gaza for the process of manufacturing the rockets that are eventually launched towards the State of Israel,” the Israel Tax Authority said, according to i24 News.
Israeli authorities will “continue to act resolutely to thwart the smuggling of dual-use materials and weapons to the Gaza Strip,” the statement added.
