IDF announces discovery of terror tunnel connecting northern and southern Gaza Strip
On Wednesday, the IDF announced that its forces located a terror tunnel one and a half kilometers (about 1 mile) from the border with Israel that connected the northern and southern parts of the Gaza Strip.
The IDF spokesman announced that soldiers from the 646th Reserve Brigade, along with special forces from the Yahalom unit, located the tunnel.
According to the IDF, the tunnel is about one kilometer (0.6 miles) long and 20 meters (65 ft.) deep.
The underground route was investigated and destroyed under the leadership of the engineering battalion and in cooperation with Yahalom.
During the same activity, the forces also located anti-aircraft missiles, launchers, and equipment for manufacturing and launching rockets. In addition, dozens of warheads and electronic components for rocket operation were identified.
