America to Israel: You don’t have much time left to dismantle Hamas

It was just Oct. 12, not even two months ago, when U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Israel for a one-day solidarity visit to assure the country that although “Israel can protect itself alone, it doesn’t have to, because America has its back.” He went on to say, “You may be strong enough to defend yourself, but as long as America exists, you will never have to. We will always be there by your side.”

But despite those heartwarming assurances, Blinken’s most recent visit, this past Thursday, expressed a completely different tone and message, bearing no resemblance to the first. His warning came on the heels of Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant’s commitment towards the “goal of dismantling Hamas, even if it takes months.”

Still operating under Blinken’s warm sentiments of Oct. 12, one can only imagine the shock on Gallant’s face when Blinken responded by saying, “I don’t think you have the credit for that.”

The 180-degree turnaround was accompanied by explicit directions as to how Israel may and may not conduct the war in which they are presently embroiled, as a result of their civilian population being brutally attacked by Hamas. Sternly cautioning the senior government and military members, who were all present for this closed war cabinet meeting, Blinken had no difficulty putting forward the directive which, undoubtedly, came from the top, stating: “Massive loss of civilian life in north Gaza must not be repeated in the south.”

It didn’t take long for a leak in the substance of those private conversations to make its way to the Israeli evening news, reported by Israel's Channel 12 on Friday night that detailed much of the exchange.

Of course, no one thought that “we will always be there by your side” would mean literally dictating the terms and conditions under which Israel is able to fight a savage enemy, who is a great threat to all civilized societies. But, under the guise of fears of “widespread devastation and a massive humanitarian catastrophe resulting in hunger and disease, that’s exactly what Blinken did.

His “you don’t have the credit” remark referred to the length of time it will take, Israel’s responsibility to safeguard Gaza’s civilians, regardless of whether or not they are also combatants, and finally making sure that Israel understands that the patience of the White House is wearing thin as a prolonged war threatens Democrat votes.

Naturally, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, while attending the United Nations COP28 Climate Change Conference in Dubai, felt compelled to add her two cents by moralizing as she admonished Israel to "respect humanitarian law" because too many innocent Palestinians have been killed.” Not a word of condolence for what Israel has endured or the tragic loss of life at the hands of savage terrorists. But as a Democrat in Dubai, why would she?

Herein lies the miscalculation that was made by the Biden administration, which didn’t count on their initial fervent support backfiring on them in a way that could cost them the upcoming 2024 election.

Prior to Oct. 7, it was only the Squad members, which represent the progressive wing of the Democratic party, who unashamedly voiced their constant disapproval of Israel.; but all that changed once the U.S. verbally supported Israel. Within days, organized pro-Palestinian demonstrations began to pop up in many major cities, on campuses throughout the country, and within the anti-Israel base of the Democratic party which has proven to be much larger than ever anticipated.

Courtesy of Michigan Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, a strong and intimidating filmed message was sent to the administration, loud and clear, letting them know that their response to Oct. 7 would be remembered at the ballot box. It must’ve been around then that party members began to take the threats very seriously and put the squeeze on the administration to clamp down on what was seen as full-throated support for the Jewish state. Once panic set in, the warm, fuzzy feelings began to subside.

Biden’s political survival is now at stake, and that means that the meter is running on Israel. Consequently, we are expected to wrap things up pronto, leave as much intact as possible, guard the Gaza civilian population as if they were our own and hightail it out of Dodge in record time. In short, do what you have to do, but do it speedily and with delicate precision. Not much of a tall order, right? And certainly, no different from instructions given to any other nation at war!!!

This is the double standard to which only Israel is held. Do the impossible, and do it fast, because an election is on the horizon. No matter if Hamas is not completely eradicated and survives another day to reclaim its position of governmental leader in Gaza. It’s Israel’s problem, not Egypt’s, not Jordan’s and not anyone else’s, because they’ve made it clear that they don’t want to get involved – at least not in the problem-solving aspect. But in the criticizing and blaming – they’ll surely be front and center.

Ironically, though, America may end up the most injured from this war, because her support may have already cost her a win for the Democrats, not to mention having awakened a sleeping giant. Whether or not we are granted the gift of more time and needed moral support from the world’s superpower, the anti-Israel, anti-Jewish contingency can’t be neatly tucked away, because the toothpaste will not go back into that tube, especially when it’s been squeezed as much as this one has.

For her support of the Jewish homeland, America has now discovered that her cities are filled with Marxist-indoctrinated students, a sizable activist pro-Palestinian population who immigrated from Middle Eastern countries, antagonistic to Israel, a once dormant, but now visible segment of Jew-haters, a social media-driven teen population who thinks it’s cool to ditch school and protest, and a progressive political class which is rooting for terrorists who enjoy butchering whole families. As sad as all that is, though, in some ways, it’s been a useful reality check for everyone who now has a good vantage point to see what’s been simmering under the surface over the past few years.

Sadly, it’s a boiling cauldron of hate, anger, intolerance, greed, narcissism, disrespect, vulgarity, willful ignorance, mental disorders, lack of decency, morality, patriotism, spirituality, improper parenting, absence of exemplary leadership and a rejection of all that is good and godly.

So, while America is sending the ominous message to Israel that we don’t have much time left, it could be that given all that’s brewing on her own streets will result in her having less time left than Israel when it comes to which country can survive the ravages of those who are committed to its demise! In the end, fighting off outside enemies might prove to be easier than the ones who are citizens of a country they actually hate.
