Thomas Hand, father of Emily, first thought his daughter had been killed in the October 7 massacre. Understanding the nature of Hamas, he was relieved to think that she wouldn’t have to endure captivity in the hands of the terror group. He later found out that she was alive. For the first time, Emily and her father, together speak to the media. “They [the hostages] were threatened with a knife to be quiet,” Thomas Hand relates. “She has panic attacks, like today…My dream for her is that she completely recovers, no more panic attacks.”
