Vance says Trump will enable Israel to 'knock out' Hamas if hostages aren’t released by inauguration

In a Sunday interview on Fox News, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance said President-elect Trump will enable Israel to “knock out” what is left of Hamas, if the hostages are not released by the U.S. presidential inauguration on Jan. 20.

The Trump administration plans on “enabling the Israelis to knock out the final couple of battalions of Hamas and their leadership,” as well as imposing “very aggressive sanctions and financial penalties on those who are supporting terrorist organizations in the Middle East,” Vance said.

Vance argued that Trump’s threats against the terrorist group are already having real-world impacts.

“When you talk to world leaders, it’s very clear that President Trump threatening Hamas and making it clear that there is gonna be hell to pay is part of the reason why we’ve made progress on getting some hostages out,” Vance said.

He also indicated that there may indeed be a deal made in the final week of the Biden administration.

“We’re hopeful there’s gonna be a deal that’s struck towards the very end of Biden’s administration, maybe in the next day or two,” he said. “But regardless of when that deal is struck, it will be because people are terrified that there are going to be consequences for Hamas.”

Vance’s comments were in response to remarks recently made by Trump, who has repeatedly warned Hamas of the consequences of not releasing the hostages prior to the inauguration.

“It will not be good for Hamas, and it will not be good, frankly, for anyone,” Trump said. “All hell will break out. I don’t have to say anymore, but that’s what it is.”
