Israel's National Public Diplomacy Directorate launched an artistic public diplomacy exhibit in New York City in honor of International Women's Day, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) announced on Friday.

The exhibit portrays the "harsh conditions in which the women hostages are imprisoned in Gaza" and calls for their immediate release from Hamas captivity.

The innovative video-art display was produced in cooperation with the Israeli Government Advertising Agency and the Israeli Consulate in New York and will be screened in two locations: the Consulate which faces the United Nations headquarters and a building in the popular 'artsy' Soho neighborhood.

Social video artist Shai Filar, who helped to create the display, hopes to capture the attention of its target audience – young Americans and students – by projecting the exhibit on buildings and creating conversation among the general public

The launch event took place on Thursday evening, led by the Israeli Consulate and the PMO's Hostages, Missing and Captives Authority. Relatives of hostages were in attendance.

The exhibit will be screened every night starting Friday, through Monday, March 11.
