Mt. Hermon is a popular destination for adventurous Israelis and visitors seeking to make the most of Israel's limited ski season. This year, however, the renowned resort and ski areas on the country’s highest peak remain closed, as the Israeli military has declared the site a closed military zone due to the ongoing war.

Snow fell on the northern mountain overnight. Reports showed temperatures at the lower-level base area had “dropped to 0°C (32°F), with snow accumulating to a depth of about 30 cm (12 inches). At the upper level of the mountain, temperatures fell to -3°C (26°F) and snow depth reached approximately 40 cm (16 inches).”

Heavy rainfall swept across central Israel Sunday night into Monday, prompting concerns about potential flooding. During the rainy season, there is a heightened risk of flash floods in the Judean Desert and Dead Sea regions.

Civilians and adventurous university students in Israel are frequently reminded that weather in regions around Jerusalem can lead to dangerous conditions in the desert. Each year, an estimated 10 to 20 people die in flash floods caused by rainfall in northern areas that quickly reach desert regions.

Temperatures are forecast to dip below the seasonal average on Monday. Rain and a few thunderstorms, will continue in the north, the center and even the northern Negev regions of Israel.
