Israel thwarts weapons smuggling attempt from Lebanon
Israel Defense Forces stopped an overnight attempt to smuggle weapons into Israel at the border with Lebanon.
IDF soldiers spotted a weapons smuggling attempt from Lebanon into Israeli territory adjacent to the town of Arab al-Aramshe.
Both the IDF and Israel Police forces were dispatched to the scene, where they apprehended a suspect and confiscated four handguns and a number of magazines worth about 150,000 shekels (approximately $40,000).
The suspect and weapons were transferred to the Israeli police for further processing.
IDF forces regularly stop illegal border crossing attempts with Lebanon. In the last few years, they have also stopped attempts to smuggle weapons into Palestinian territories from Jordan and Egypt.
