Israel ranked 8th largest arms exporter

According to a new analysis from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Israel was the world’s 8th largest arms exporter from 2020 to 2024.
Israel’s arms exports constituted 3.1% of all global arms exports, the analysis indicated. Ahead of Israel, in ascending order, were the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, China, Russia, France and the United States.
“The U.S., India and Germany are among the major countries receiving weapons from Israel, which supplies 13% of Germany’s arms imports,” Ynet News reported. “Additionally, Israel is a key supplier to Morocco, the UK and the Philippines, accounting for 27% of their arms imports.”
In SIPRI’s analysis of global arms imports, Israel was ranked as the 15th largest importer.
“Israel accounts for 1.9% of global arms imports, with the United States being its largest supplier, providing 66% of its imports,” Ynet reported. “Germany follows with 33%, and Italy accounts for 1%.”
The biggest change in global arms imports came in Ukraine. During the period analyzed in the report, Ukraine received 8.8% of all global arms imports, receiving weapons from “approximately 35 countries.”
SIPRI has also noted that three Israeli weapons manufacturers achieved record-breaking revenues since the war began in Gaza.
“With the outbreak of war in Gaza, the arms revenues of the three companies based in Israel in the Top 100 reached $13.6 billion,” SIPRI reported. “This was the highest figure ever recorded by Israeli companies in the SIPRI Top 100.”
SIPRI senior researcher, Dr. Diego Lopes da Silva, said that “the biggest Middle Eastern arms producers in the Top 100 saw their arms revenues reach unprecedented heights in 2023 and the growth looks set to continue.”
