This is a developing story.

The Lebanese terror group Hezbollah fired around 205 rockets deep into Israeli territory on Monday, including areas not targeted so far, in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes that struck Hezbollah targets in uninterrupted bombardments throughout the day.

On Monday evening, the Magen David Adom rescue services announced that a 23-year-old man was being treated and in moderate condition after being hit in the head by shrapnel from rocket attacks in Kiryat Bialik.

For the first time in the war, Hezbollah targeted the area of Ariel and Karnei Shomron, in the western Samaria region to the east of the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, with a barrage of around 10 rockets.

In Samaria, the Palestinian Red Crescent said two people were treated after suffering wounds from shrapnel that landed in Deir Istiya, near Ariel.

Ariel lies about 100 km (around 62 miles) from the Lebanese border. A rocket impact was reported near the village of Peduel, next to Ariel.

A short time before the attack on Ariel, another rocket barrage targeted the coastal area from Acre to the outskirts of Haifa, including the towns of Kiryat Yam and Kiryat Motzkin.

Another barrage of some 30 rockets was fired at the outskirts of Haifa and the western end of the Jezreel Valley shortly after. The eastern and southern outskirts of Haifa were targeted at least three more times later on Monday.

Another attack in the evening targeted the area of Karmiel and the town of Sakhnin, in the central Galilee region.

In the afternoon, the IDF announced it would soon begin launching a wave of airstrikes in the Bekaa Valley in northern Lebanon and called on residents to leave the area.

Soon after, Hezbollah fired about five rockets at towns on Mount Karmel, to the south and east of the city of Haifa. Alarm sirens were activated in the towns of Daliyat al-Karmel, Isfiya and Yokneam, where a rocket impact was reported.

The southernmost point targeted in this attack was near Yokneam, around 50 km (30 miles) from the Lebanese border.

Another 5-rocket volley was fired at the area of Safed, while another barrage of 25 rockets targeted the area of the Golani Junction, to the west of the Sea of Galilee which has not been a target in recent months.

Alarm sirens were activated in Maghar, Eilaboun, Turan and several other nearby towns.

Earlier in the day, Hezbollah had responded to a first wave of Israeli airstrikes with rocket fire at numerous areas across the Galilee, including at least 35 rockets fired at the area of Safed and the Lower Galilee region, west of the Sea of Galilee.

Five people were treated at a hospital in Tiberias after the attacks, including a man who was lightly wounded by shrapnel, another man who fell while running to a shelter, and three people who were in shock.

One rocket directly hit a house in Givat Avni, a community located just west of the city of Tiberias. The family entered the shelter just in time and were not injured, however, the house suffered significant damage.

“We entered the bunker, I closed the door, locked it and then there was a crazy explosion,” Dudi Yitzhak told Ynet News.

“I said straight away, it’s inside the house. The impact was 30 cm from the bunker. For 10 years I wore a uniform, to this day I’m a commander in the reserves, if there is something that should be spread it is that this saves lives. This is the most extreme case there is – 30 cm and the lives of three people were saved, it’s crazy.”
