'Fauda' creators to develop 'October 7th' film to tell 'gripping story' of bravery and heroism in face of terror
The creators of the Israeli television show "Fauda" – Avi Issacharoff and Lior Raz – have been hired by Leviathan Productions to write the script for a new film entitled, "October 7th."
The film, which the Hollywood news site Deadline reports will be a “narrative feature,” will be centered on the story of the retired IDF general, Noam Tibon.
Tibon, a 62-year-old retired Israeli military general, came to the rescue of his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughters on Oct. 7, when Hamas terrorists invaded southern Israeli communities near the Gaza border, killing at least 1,200. His family members were hiding in their home in Nahal Oz for 10 hours during the terror attack.
Armed with nothing but a handgun, Tibon jumped in his car and drove from Tel Aviv to Kibbutz Nahal Oz. Taking an automatic rifle from a deceased IDF soldier, Tibon joined the fight against the terrorist onslaught.
Before long, Tibon managed to fight his way to his family’s house. Hearing his voice outside their window, one of his granddaughters cried out, “Grandpa is here!”
Sixy-six IDF soldiers were killed in the Oct. 7 attack on Nahal Oz. In addition, at least 12 civilians were killed, and many were kidnapped and taken back into Gaza as hostages.
ALL ISRAEL NEWS Editor-in-Chief Joel Rosenberg interviewed Tibon’s son Amir less than a month after he and his family went through the harrowing experience.
“I believe we had a miracle – it’s a miracle that we’re alive,” Amir told Rosenberg.
“When faced with the horrors of that fateful day, Noam Tibon immediately charged into danger to protect his family,” Issacharoff and Raz said in a statement regarding the new film.
“His gripping story – which transcends any religion, country, or conflict – beautifully reflects the sacrifices we are willing to make for those we love. We are proud to help amplify Noam’s bravery and to provide some hope and inspiration during these difficult times.”
Leviathan, the company that hired Raz and Issacharoff to write the "October 7th" script, was launched in 2022 by film producer Ben Cosgrove and author Josh Foer. It was specifically founded to “acquire and develop mass-market films and TV content based on Jewish history, folklore, and literature, as well as stories about Israel.”
