IDF spokesman says al-Qaeda and ISIS training material discovered on body of Hamas terrorist
In a daily update this evening, Brig.-Gen. Daniel Hagari, the official Israel Defense Forces spokesman, said that IDF fighters found training material from al-Qaeda and ISIS on the body of a dead Hamas terrorist.
“Hamas is ISIS and that is not just a slogan,” Hagari said, “but because we find flags and a preparatory booklet found on a terrorist with the symbol of ISIS and al-Qaeda. We're fighting ISIS and al-Qaeda and it's important for the world to understand that.”
Hagari said the work to make sure the Gaza Envelope is free of Hamas terrorists continues.
“There are tens of thousands of fighters in communities and on the ground looking for terrorists alongside many fighters deployed in front of the fence,” Hagari stated.
The IDF continues to strike Hamas targets in Gaza.
“We attacked dozens of Hamas infrastructures, towers from which Hamas manages control of the Gaza Strip. The organization has already lost control of many parts of the Gaza Strip,” Hagari claimed.
So far, the IDF has not declared a ground invasion of Gaza, although many military and civilian leaders have said such a campaign will be necessary to eliminate Hamas from Gaza.
