Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar added to EU terrorist list in response to Oct. 7 attacks
The leader of the Hamas terror organization in the Gaza Strip, Yahya Sinwar, was added to the European Union’s terror list, the EU Council announced on Tuesday.
The decision came in “response to the threat posed by Hamas and its brutal and indiscriminate terrorist attacks in Israel on 7 October 2023,” the Council wrote.
Sinwar’s funds and other financial assets will be frozen and it is now forbidden for EU operators to make funds and economic resources available to him.
The Hamas terrorist's deputies, Mohammed Deif and Marwan Issa, were added to the same list in December.
In response, Foreign Minister Israel Katz thanked Israel’s friends for their support and praised the “just and moral decision,” vowing to “eradicate the root of evil, in Gaza and wherever it raises its head.”
