Ahead of Fall Feasts, government announces Israel’s population approaches 10 million
According to Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), there are approximately 9,795,000 people living in Israel.
The CBS published its statistics on Wednesday, ahead of the Jewish New Year.
The bureau also announced that Israel’s population is expected to reach 10 million by the end of 2024, some 16 million by 2048, and to have doubled by 2065.
According to statistics, 73% of the Israeli population define themselves as Jewish, 21% as Arab and about 5% as neither Jewish nor Arab.
Israel’s overall population grew by 2% in the last year, with about 172,000 newborns and the arrival of some 74,000 new immigrants.
