Attorney general refuses to defend Reasonableness Law, lets justice minister get outside counsel
Israel's Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara stated that she won’t defend the Reasonableness Law in an upcoming High Court hearing and authorized Justice Minister Yariv Levin to enlist outside counsel instead, Israeli media reported on Wednesday.
Baharav-Miara has been critical of the law, which is part of the judicial reform mainly led by Levin since its inception. The law was passed in a Knesset vote late in July.
The attorney general is expected to recommend the High Court to strike down the law.
